1 Quick RedDot CMS SmartTree Preview Trick

Reddot CMS SmartTree Preview TrickShift + Click on Preview Page only shows the current CMS “Page”

Sometimes you don’t need to see a full preview of your site, you just want to reload the fragment of the RedDot CMS page you’re currently working on.

When you’re in SmartTree mode just hold down the “Shift” key and click on “Page Preview” in the action menu and voilĂ  – the popup only shows the CMS page part you’re working on.

This is helpful if you just need to test a part of your page and don’t want to wait for the full page to be loaded.

  1. I find this functionality very helpful when debugging CSS/JS/Scripts. You just call a part of the whole page and can then figure out if the error/unexpected behaviour occours even when just this specific part of the page is being called.

  2. This is a good old school trick. Old school side-effect to note if you have pre-executing code in your templates, if there is a function outside of the current CMS page you will encounter an error.

  3. An oldie, but a goodie! Always comes in handy…
